Fellowship Program
Filling the Talent Gap
IDEX Fellowship is designed to attract, develop and retain promising young professionals who
will help lead the development of enterprises that serve the poor while creating a positive
social impact. This talent pool is being cultivated in order to build the capacity of the social
sector and the diverse enterprises, for-profit, nonprofit and quasi-public organizations that
encompass it.
IDEX APPROACH
Reflecting the rapidly expanding complexity of this field, IDEX is by design a self-directed
fellowship program that encourages participants to be enterprising and innovative in their
approach to identify opportunities and implement market-based, sustainable solutions social
enterprises. Fellows will help grassroots education enterprises improve operations and
service offerings across a range of projects and issues, including strategic planning, business
plan development, marketing and product strategies, financial analysis, operational
improvements and performance evaluation.

those looking to launch a career in this emerging sector. Fellows are selected based in their
leadership and entrepreneurial attributes and demonstrated capability to execute
interdependently. In addition to working alongside entrepreneurs, fellows will have structured
opportunities to exchange ideas with peers and staff as well as individualized opportunities
to work with IDEX partners to leverage their field experience and cultivate professional skills.
Fellows will also have the opportunity to travel on guided social business field trips to enrich
their connections in the sector.
