IDEX Fellowship

Benefits

During the fellowship, IDEX fellows receive a monthly stipend to cover living and housing expenses, receive paid vacation time, and have options for possible deferment of student loans. IDEX fellows are responsible for travel to and from the country of the fellowship field placement.

 

FINANCIAL BENEFITS

 Pay and Living Expenses

 IDEX fellows are offered a monthly stipend that enables them to live modest manner similar to the local people in their community, covering housing, food, and transportation. Stipends vary based on location and actual amounts will be determined and communicated as candidate’s progress through the interview process.

 Living Accommodations

 IDEX identifies and arranges housing for fellows prior to arrival at the field location. Although fellows work independently with entrepreneurs, they live in housing units in groups ranging from 2-4 fellows. Fellows are welcome to arrange independent living accommodations prior to their arrival. Fellows are responsible for paying monthly rent for housing which is supplemented by the monthly stipend paid to fellows by IDEX.

 Vacation Time

 Fellows receive 10 (ten) days of paid vacation time in addition to paid holiday time off (according to local customs of field placement country) throughout the duration of their fellowship. Many use this time to travel to nearby countries, expanding their opportunities for adventure and cross-cultural experiences. Some invite family or friends to visit so they can share their experience of the host country with loved ones. And of course, IDEX fellows can use this time for a visit home (at their own expense).

 Professional Development

 In addition to field placements, fellows can elect to intern with one of IDEXs professional development partners to build and refine business skills relevant to their professional or interest. To view a list of current partners, click here.

 Post-Fellowship Job Placement Support

 IDEX provides assistance in finding career opportunities in the social enterprise sector. IDEX will publish information through online newsletters and IDEXs LinkedIn group with job announcements, graduate school information, and career-related articles. Additionally, we will assist fellows translate their field experience for prospective employers and other professional contacts.

 Alumni Network

 As IDEX alumni you will be part of the network of change-agent, entrepreneurs and practitioners who have shared in this transformational experience.

 

 MEDICAL BENEFITS

 Medical Benefits

 IDEX provides emergency medical insurance for all fellows during the field placement. Fellows are responsible for obtaining basic medical insurance at the own discretion and convenience.
